The next FredNUG meeting will be on Wednesday 4/22 at 6:30pm at the Urbana library.
The intro topic for the evening will be “SQL Server Performance” with Jeremy Kadlec.
The main topic will be “Coding for Fun and Profit” with Jeff Schoolcraft:
A casual show and tell–with audience participation of course–of fun ways to keep your edge (and sanity). The happy side effect is you’re learning and hopefully becoming more marketable to your current employer or getting enough sparks to ignite the fire and be your own boss. This isn’t a technical session, per se, but bring your laptops and be ready to code.
Thanks to Edgewood Solutions for sponsoring our April and May meetings.

Silverlight is one of the most exciting things to come out of Microsoft lately. In this session, Sahil cooks up a practical and interesting completely hands-on demonstration of how to use Silverlight in SharePoint. Not only does he talk of various details of Silverlight, along with proper deployment of silverlight projects in SharePoint, he also mixes WCF and demonstrates using Silverlight with full access to the SharePoint object model. You should attend if you are interested in either Silverlight, SharePoint, WCF, or any mixture of the above. - Speaker Bio: Sahil Malik has been a Microsoft MVP & INETA Speaker for many years, author of many books and numerous articles, consultant and trainer who delivers training and talks at conferences internationally. His talks are full of humor and practical nuggets. His talks tend to get very highly charged, fast moving, and highly interactive. Sahil likes to maintain a balance and learn as much as possible of all Microsoft technologies, and thus completely ignores the balance in his life. You should check out his site at http://blah.winsmarts.com
- 8:30 PM – 8:45 PM – Raffle for some great giveaways!
Bring a friend. Hope to see you there!

It looks like a winter storm will be coming through the region over the next few days. The FredNUG meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 28 at 6:45pm will be canceled if the Urbana Regional Library is closed that evening.
Please check this web site prior to coming to the meeting on Wednesday to make sure it has not been canceled due to the inclement weather.

The intro topic for the evening will be “Intro to LINQ” with Ganesan Muthiah.
The main topic will be “Texas Hold’em Silverlight Game” with Dean Fiala. More info on this topic:
If you’ve written one too many data entry applications or are otherwise stuck in a development vortex, it’s time to walk into the light, Silverlight that is. If you’ve heard about it, or have been constantly badgered by the Microsoft site to download it, this is your chance to see what it can actually do. In this session, we’ll walk through developing a Texas Hold’em game in Silverlight. Guaranteed to be a 97.89% buzzword-free reminder of how writing software can be fun.
See you there!
